Welcome to Philly Bikecab Alliance!
A RESOURCE FOR INFORMATION PERTAINING TO PEDICAB OPERATORS WORKING TOGETHER IN PHILADELPHIA.
NEW TO PHILADELPHIA ... bikecabs started rolling on the streets of the city on May 28, 2010. Commonly known around the world as pedicabs, bicycle / bike taxis or rickshaws, here in the City of Brotherly Love, bikecabs are putting a positive spin on this eco-friendly mode of transportation. In October 2009, City Council unanimously passed an ordinance officially regulating pedicabs and with the Mayor's authorization, the City of Philadelphia issued licenses in May 2010.
The founding members of Philly Bikecab Alliance introduced bikecabs and played a significant role in contributing to the drafting and defining of the ordinance and regulations. Our continued outreach efforts as the voice for this new industry resulted in the lifting of restrictions and paved the way for offering pedicab services throughout the Center City.
The PBA serves as a representative for our members and as an intermediary to city departments, trade associations, community organizations and the general public. We assist in facilitating and ensuring that the official procedures for licensing, inspection and operation are met thus establishing a self-monitoring industry while building strong relationships with stakeholders and the community.
If you are an operator hoping to build a successful operation, a driver looking to pedal the streets, someone interested in a career position, a business or organization wanting to utilize this green advertising medium, or just curious to learn how to hail a bikecab and use our services, contact us and we'll do our best to answer all of your questions.
